Saturday, October 09, 2004I swear, every week flies by and before I know it I'm at work on Saturday writing another post. Construction to Begin on Institute for Nutrisciences and Health Very exciting news! :D I had my first Nutrition midterm on Wednesday and I got 7.6/10, which wasn't at all what I was hoping for, but I realize now that I can't cram all the information into my brain in one night and hope to do well. I took Nutrition 101 last semester and I think I got into the studying style that my old professor Jennifer Taylor used, which is totally different from Kathy's method. It's only worth 10 percent so I am not too worried, it only makes me want to work harder :) I think I might go have a chat with her about it and see where I went wrong, because I knew all the information, I think I just got confused with the testing style. On a brighter note I got 97% on my F/S 221 midterm, which I was floored about. I only expected an 80-85, I think the average was about 75. I also had a Foods Midterm on Friday, I am sort of worried about how it went, my nutrition professor Kathy also teaches my foods class, but compared to Nutrition I think I did good on most of the multiple choice, some of the short answer were a little dry though, I could have written more, I know I knew more. John Kyle and I had a rough night of studying and drinking coffee the night before until we were delirious. Good times. I FINALLY got my car fixed!!! WOOO HOOOOO, seriously, I should be dead by now. I had no front windshield defroster for 6 months lol, it cost 300$ but still, well worth the money! In other news, the lady the runs the Soup Kitchen Judy,(been there for 20 years)was telling me yesterday about how a new Upper Room is being built on Richmond street in the parking lot behind the old CO-OP!! She had the blue print of the place and it's going to be amazing to work in! They are going to get 3 freezers, basically new everything :D There will be a huge eating area, and it will be wheel chair accessible. However, the bad news is that board chairs decided to cut her down to part time starting in the near future. Yeah that's right, the lady has worked there for 20 years, she knows every persons name that comes in and is the kindest person you will ever meet and they are trying to cut her down to part time to save "costs", yet they are hiring another lady part time. They are trying to push her out of the place, and replace her with another lady who is close friends with people on the board of directors. There will be a meeting to show protest about this in November and I will be there with all the other volunteers and I am sure most of the patrons will also show their support. I will post the dates if anyone else has a heart and wants to show support for someone who has spent 20 years of their life serving others just to get backstabbed by the people she trusted. It's appalling. I hope everyone enjoys Thanksgiving weekend :) I bought a huge turkey and Charles and I are going to make thanksgiving dinner from scratch! I can already taste it! can't wait :)
