Friday, September 03, 2004Hallelujah!!! THE ALIANT STRIKE IS FINALLY OVER!!! After 4 months the two unions finally reached a tentative agreement which means everyone should be back to work on the 20th of September with a fair contract and better wages! *sighs with relief* Charles and I will be able to afford food and rent while I am in school :D Just in time too, I stop working full time after next week, and Charles will hopefully be working full again time soon :D Does this mean I can get a Birman for Christmas? Simon’s really excited, he needs a brother to play with :O :P Last night we had a celebration and today we spent the whole morning cleaning. The apartment is almost spotless, still a bit of cleaning left to do though. I sorted out all my clothes and I have a huge box full of clothes to give to the Upper Room. It was hard to part with my worked in silver jeans but they just don’t fit me anymore, my hips will never be that small again. Working 4-12 again tonight, I wish I could go out and celebrate with everyone, next time ;)
Thursday, September 02, 2004With school looming ahead I cracked down and got a whollllle bunch of things done this past week! I bought all my books, except for my Organic Chemistry book which wasn't in. I tried to buy the books second hand but I am almost 100% sure they are all new editions or totally different books. It really hurt spending so much money on books, but I plan on getting most of it back when I sell them next year :P I also paid my parking fee, opted out of the medical plan, got an agenda, blah, too much UPEI crap was building up and I'm relieved I got it all finished. I did some shopping and bought some school supplies: a very comfy computer chair, a new roots bag to carry my expensive books in :P, some pens and pencils and that's about it since I had lots of supplies left over from last semester. A little personal shopping was also done ;) I bought a pair of pink cords (extremely soft) and 2 pairs of awesome jeans that fit perfectly (which are very hard to find)! I also bought a nice warm turtleneck sweater to wear in the fall. I have more shopping left to do, but I have all the pants I need, just a few more shirts and I am good to go! I had my follow up appointment with my Orthoptist yesterday and I'm on the waiting list for surgery :) Very happy about it actually, can't wait until I can go a day without having a headache. I feel like my headaches hold me back a lot and it's really hard on me physically :S Hopefully the appointment time they pick is next summer because I can't really have it during school. I work the next 6 days in a row, 5 4-12’s and Tuesday 8-4pm. I am trying not to complain because I really need the money :( Thankfully Monday is a holiday, double time and a half here I come! Ciao!
