Thursday, July 01, 2004Charles and I went out for a Canada Day breakfast this morning at Smitty's. We both had pancakes topped with fresh strawberries & blueberries with whip cream on the side and drizzled with syrup. It was scrumptious. I could only eat about one pancake because I am not used to eating so early in the morning, but that one pancake was fantastic =) I hope everyone has a great Canada Day and enjoys the festivities, Have a drink for me!! Drive safe ! Chow~
Wednesday, June 30, 2004The past few days have flown by! I will be spending the next 6 days in a row working the dreaded 4-12am shift which sucks because I can’t attend any of the Canada Day festivities, oh well, I’ll survive. On Monday I went to my eye surgeon and found out some good news, I don’t have to get my eye operated on again!! Or so he thinks :S I have to go and get eye measurements taken in October to be sure, but things are looking good! In other news, This past Monday I started volunteering at the Soup Kitchen. It was heartbreaking, I am a very emotional person and had a hard time with it at first, but I am helping people that are less fortunate and hopefully making a difference in their lives. The lady who owns the kitchen (Judy) was the nicest person I have ever met, she’s warm, caring, and makes every person that comes in feel special. She even knew all the 40+ people’s names that came in for food. I am going to volunteer there once a week, and it’s a volunteer job that I can hopefully keep throughout the school year. I am going to bake some carrot muffins for everyone to eat for Monday. :) In other volunteer news, I start on Monday helping the Nutrition girls with the Food, Fun and Fitness camp. I have Mon, Wed and Thurs off so hopefully I can get lots of volunteer hours in. Should be a blast. I also have to volunteer at the Soup kitchen on Monday, so it should make for a busy day. I work well under pressure ;) Can’t wait to register for next semester, I absolutley hate waiting :S!!! I am a very impatient person. I hope I get all the lab times I want, I get to register on the 14th since I am considered 3rd year, so hopefully everything will work out! Did anyone else notice that it’s up to 435$ per course now ?? Holy crap!! they better lower tuition rates or nobody will be able to afford University. What’s with the tropical storm outside?? I lovvvvve thunder and lightening!!! My supervisor Jay was nice enough to go out and close the windows on my car so I didn’t have to get wet, what a sweetie! Well that’s enough rambling for now, I am off to eat my muffin!!
Sunday, June 27, 2004I think it's time for an update ;) I had Friday off and decided to have my niece Taylor over for a sleepover. She just finished grade1 and is in the top of her class for reading so I thought she deserved a nice grading present. I bought her Posh Pets Barbie, I couldn’t resist! The Barbie came with a really cute mommy cat and 4 kittens :O It also came with a carriage and the cats had feather boas! It reminded me how much I loved Barbie’s when I was younger, I wanted to keep her for myself *blush* Charles and I took Taylor to Victoria park where we played on the swings/slides and made friends with a few cute dogs, then it was off to the bulk barn for some treats! I am sad to say too much candy was bought:P I should know better, studying nutrition and all, but I figure everyone needs a good dose of candy once and a while! Then it was off to Blockbuster where we rented a movie then went home and relaxed. In the morning Tay and I went out for lunch at McDee’s (Taylor’s choice) and she got a nugget happy meal. I was surprised to see McDonalds promoting milk/chocolate milk for the kids happy meals, it’s about time! Thankfully my working days at Mickey Dee’s are over, I guess it’s still good to have 3 years experience working as a swing manager in the food/service industry on my resume. But still, 3 years?? Way too long if you ask me. I bet everyone’s out at Blooming point drunk as skunks dancing in the rain right now! Unfortunately I will not be making it tonight as I am stuck working backshift. Ahh well, I hate being wet and cold so no big loss for me. I think I’ll survive with my tea and chocolates and the warmth of the indoors ;) This Monday brings the start of another hectic 45 hour work week :( Although.. getting paid overtime plus 24$ an hour for working Canada day will make for a sweet pay-cheque!
